Operation Airdrop is getting supplies of all kinds to people who are stuck in remote places w/no road access. The extent of the devastation is underreported bc news crews can't get in there yet. But the situation is dire, and those communities need relief. www.operation-airdrop.com/hurricane-he...

The other thing that’s new (first used a lot in a similar situation in VT a year or two ago) is the use of drones to map damage, find survivors, & gather information to help prioritize assistance. Far faster, cheaper, and easier than needing to get human crews into every nook & cranny of the area.

Just a week after both Meta & Google promised Senators that they would never block a potentially embarrassing story related to a candidate for national office, both companies did just that. Apparently the promise only applied to embarrassing info on GOP candidates. www.techdirt.com/2024/09/30/b...

Last week a fairly well-known actor endorsed Trump. His lefty fans, friends, and former colleagues responded with disappointment. Last month, a Trump-voting Republican factory manager said his Haitian workers are good people. His fellow Republicans responded by threatening to kill him.

"A strange paradox: in his freshman year, my former student ... was required by Martin to read a book insisting that free society tolerates Nazi protests. A year after [he] graduated, Martin had him arrested for pro-Palestinian protest."

A case I’m looking at right now for work: the state of Vermont was able to use drone-captured imagery to shave down the time required to get a FEMA disaster declaration for the 2023 flooding down to about 2 days. Way way faster than would have been possible any other way.
