Yeah that's never fun. The last house I lived in was similar in age, and the previous owners had replaced all the knob-and-tube, but in like the 70s, so nothing had grounds, and I think a bunch of the circuits were 10A. So far the only crimes here have been 'not enough GCFI outlets' thankfully
electrical wiring is 1) not moving, 2) made of much thicker strands, and 3) not doing anything that's sensitive to very small fluctuations in voltage of current, heh (and I unfortunately /have/ had an in-wall wire fail, in a ~30yo house - but yes, generally less common)

I have a friend who's one and he's absolutely brilliant and has told me about like, shaving 5ms off something in his Arduino library (Fast LED) by working out that two semantically identical lines compiled down via different pathways and one was shorter. My brain cannot work like that, lol.
