The groups I’ve played with have gone into the campaign understanding that the premise requires the dissonance in genres. Some of the best story beats actually came from us figuring out how to connect the plots of two very different recursions (story dimensions).
One of the most fun TTRPG campaigns I played in was The Strange by @montecookgames.com. I like the "any setting/genre/story is possible" theme, especially because it allowed our group with diverse interests to each get to explore the types of adventures they enjoy.
