I'm disappointed in the furry community. We love tech, I get it. But there's a subreddit r/furai that teaches you to scrape various sites to generate AI without artists' consent. It makes very good art, but it's so ethically scummy.
Always loved the tome/book aesthetic of Baldur's gate and Icewind Dale. Then there's the ever classic Doom. Half-life and their expansions are pretty iconic too. And any of the old school AD&D Gold Box games cover art Death Knights of Krynn is probably my favorite.

There's not been anything that really captures the feel of Freelancer. I love the HD mod! The closest for combat I've found so far is an indie game Underspace. For the living world aspect X4 (pretty complex though.)
