Imagine being a financial institution and lending money against NFTs and then having to repossess them. Imagine explaining that to the Board. “Okay no we didn’t get the money back. But we did get this stupid ape cartoon which we may be able to sell for pennies to a weirdo.”
I’ve read the piece. There are some thoughtful arguments. A headline saying “doomed” on an article that concludes with “Mastodon will continue as a niche community and it will have lots of happy users.” is irresponsible at best. 13 million+ users is only “niche” for those with terminal VC brain.
I foresee the Twitter migration fragmenting into two groups, with Bluesky being the place for serious conversations (🤓☝🏽) and Spill being the place for fun. It might be better that way, tbh.

Soooo. . . Spill is waaaay cooler than Bluesky. If you're black, find me there "MoreAndAgain"

The man who invented cough drops died yesterday. Unsurprisingly, there will be no coffin at his funeral.
The OceanGate story is horrifying to me because this level of gross negligence is more common than we know. We just don't get this kind of attention drawn to most instances. We don't get to see a CEO lie in the bed they made, most days.
@jteedc.bsky.social Oh, snap! Welcome to the sky! lol
