Farewell to Bob Moore, the ultimate good guy who brought about a renaissance in high-quality grains, then turned over his very successful company to the employees. Legend. pdx.eater.com/2024/2/12/24...
Bob Moore, the founder of Bob’s Red Mill, passed away at home on Saturday, February 10
May his memory be a blessing.
We’re doing marketing work for them and they are, uniformly, nice people to work with.
This is one instance where I think it's appropriate to note that benevolence as an employer came directly from his strong Christian beliefs. In the era of private equity we won't see his kind very often again.
I love his extra thick oats.
We have so many examples of people running successful businesses that do right by their employees and their customers. Seems like a very old, barely existent model now. Now, people start businesses with the sum total goal to take as much money as they can and fuck everyone else.
Met him once while my families was having breakfast upstairs at the store in Milwaukie. He was going table to table, asking how we were doing and what our plans were for the day. Seemed genuinely interested and not rushed. Apparently he came out & played piano while a friend was there. Class act.
When I first read this news, I was reading while eating BRM muesli, no joke. He was a good dude.
A great source for gluten free cooking necessities. So glad to hear it is being continued by the employees.
may he rest in peace
