Just to be perfectly clear and I cannot stress this enough: do not move to Oil City, PA. There is a good reason people do not want to live there!
Ok I am going to be contrarian &say people should move there &similar other places in PA &upstate NY because it would be a wise thing to do because of probable effects of climate change. You can get cheap housing stock still &the droughts &heat waves won’t be as extreme &the winters will be milder.

Up until this year, I really thought remote work was going to turn things around for a lot of these economically depressed cities with cheap housing. But, it's more important for bosses to feel like bosses by having a full office, I guess
My mother in law grew up in Bradford, which is also oil country. Lotta health problems came out of that area, though she lived till nearly 90.
Spent a lot of time in Oil City in the 90s-00s. Went back about a year ago, and it was surprisingly nice. That said I would *never* live there. But you’re right about prices, for sure.
