A "fun" lesson in how power works these days is that the GOP is on its way to a statewide loss in NC and a historic wipeout in the governor's race there but will likely *pick up* four NC congressional seats and retain a hammerlock on the state legislature anyway because they rigged the maps

The solution to this problem in NC is the same as it was in WI: Reform their Supreme Court. Which will take some time, unfortunately. But this November, we want to support Allison Riggs in her effort to win a full 8-year term (3 GOP judges are up for re-election in 2028): www.riggsforourcourts.com

I’m supporting Justice Allison Riggs for NC Supreme Court! Join me in voting for her in the March 5th Dem Primary. Early voting is from Feb. 15th to March 2nd. Allison is counting on us all to come ou...

would love to see the difference between popular vote for lege seats vs actual seat makeup once it's all said and done

there's at least 3-6 states like this and we can absolutely expect them to implement an internal electoral college to secure the senate seats, governorships, and presidential electoral votes for the gop with as little as 30% of the in-state popular vote within the next ten years or so.

RPW (Republican Party of Wisconsin) has had that kind evil gerrymandered lock on our legislature for a long time despite not being able to win a state wide election in years. We were able to finally get slightly better maps forced through this year, so perhaps things will improve. Perhaps...

personally i love the way that under merrick garland the doj has completely given up on trying to guarantee voting rights (yeah, i get that they're swimming upstream against trump's judges but they should still be making the effort)

The people of North Carolina will speak with a clear voice that they do not want to be ruled by Republicans and they will wind up being ruled by Republicans - and send Republicans to DC to help rule the rest of us - anyway. It sucks!

If the GOP couldn't gerrymander, they'd never hold a seat. If the GOP had to win the popular vote, they'd never take office. If the GOP had to play on a level playing field, they'd never win. Excellent reasons all why the structures that keep these bastards in power should be dismantled.

Wonder if there’s an argument for section 2 of the 14th amendment here. Dems need to start hammering that where it’s a slam dunk in places like Florida.
