Lots of people in Ontario quietly die of mushroom poisoning, even folks with a lot of experience (who never regained consciousness to help elucidate the cause). It doesn't make the news, but I hear about it from my mushroom club nurse friends.

I'm not about to put my life on the line disagreeing with you & eating a random mushroom, but I follow Canadian news closely via CBC podcasts and have never heard of foraging deaths being a thing. Don't know if this is a TIL or I have a contact high from reading this thread
