(2/2) and have a UK shipping address, leave a comment telling us your favourite ancient city, and whether you’d like hardback or paperback 📚 (Two people per platform will be chosen!)
Hard for ex-archaeologist to answer, but have soft spot for Ostia (& Rome). And not just for convincing my parents they should take me on a trip to both for 'revision' before my 3rd year finals! No preference for hardback or paperback!
The place where the ancient world came most to life for me was Delos, the juxtaposition of there with Mykonos was so stark I felt like I'd managed to time travel. (If I'm lucky I would be happy with either edition but would prefer a paperback)
It's a tough call, while it's outside your normal bailiwick I'd have to go for Angkor due to the sheer beauty and complexity of its design and architecture, it's more like living in a sculpture than a city. If I'm lucky nothing beats a good hardback, but I'm not going to be fussy. Thank you. 😊
Just got a UK shipping address today! And I think my favorite ancient city (do city-states count?) is Sparta because: Penelope. Ithaca, Schmithaca. She was hewn as a daughter of Sparta 😍

Knossos! Wowed by Crete as a teenager... Paperback please.
Epidaurus for me. Such a beautiful place 🤩 Hardback would be lovely but I honestly don't mind. Books are special whether they're hardback or paperback xx
