In many ways people perceived the Obama presidency as another Reconstruction---they viewed it as a racial humiliation. One that, like the first Reconstruction, justified any form of revenge/redemption, a category in which Trump certainly qualified.

Many things can be true at the same time: 1. Israel and the Jewish people are not one and the same — AND many Jews are deeply impacted by what happens there. 2. You can support Palestinian rights, oppose Israeli policies/leaders —AND be appalled by Hamas’ massacre of Israelis. 3/
