TBH I mostly just listen to their podcasts at this point! And am generally happy with them. If I had to guess I'd say they're leaning hard on the Biden coverage b/c they're genuinely terrified he will lose and also there's a bit of a rivalry (WH wanted more favourable coverage?)?

I like their podcasts too! And I agree with your take on why they have doubled down on Biden coverage. I just don't think that is a legitimate editorial policy for a newspaper. If a "news magazine" wants to do that, fine. But I don't want my newspaper to engage with reporting like that.
