Saw that! What impeccable timing. 😎
Trump himself is merely a symptom. The deeper problem here is how so many people allowed themselves to be absorbed into cult of personality politics and to be convinced that one and one equals three if our guy says so, because he can never be wrong.
Since Trump can never be wrong, there is no room for dissent and the problem always lies with anyone who asks questions. When Trump is questioned, attack the questioner’s credibility and make it about them.
Dude. I don’t know what your deal is, but lay off the condescending language. Trying one more time: - Historical patterns, precedents, & context do much to explain contemporary society. - Historical context can provide possible explanations for future outcomes, but we’re not fortune tellers.
Love that for you. In an unprecedented political situation where historical context is lacking, other forms of study beyond history must factor into the forecasting equation. If you know what Biden should do based on history, I commend you and your prof. Based on history alone, I just don’t know.
I agree with & embrace the idea that historical patterns & precedents have significance for understanding where we are today. But we should be careful with big claims about the future. HRC’s arguments here about Biden are political commentary, not based on historical precedent, which doesn’t exist.
The larger point he makes is that what we’re seeing with the Dems at this point in the game is unprecedented. History doesn’t have a blueprint or an answer to what the party should do next. Past examples don’t provide clarity. 1876, 1952, 1968, whatever. This is different.
