Just saw another humanities job listing go up for a position in Florida. I know more colleagues who have started new positions in Florida in the past two years than any other state. I am feeling an intense sense of dread right now.
Looking for earthquake straps for some new furniture, and found one that comes with "sweet adjustable desire" 🫠
Many of us remember when school shootings were not a “fact of life”… Those of us who grew up in the 80s-90s for example. Recall the assault weapons ban was passed in 1994. When it expired in 2000, sales of the AR15 skyrocketed - as did mass shootings.
OMG, what? I clearly haven't been paying attention to the Olympics news. I did not realize the opening ceremony was to be staged on the Seine, lol.

I wrote for @placesjournal.bsky.social about cardboard boxes 📦 as logistical media and designed objects, as pandemic emblems, as capitalist equipment and detritus, as modules for all kinds of modernist imaginings, and as shapers of landscapes!
Cardboard’s ubiquity rests on simple claims: I can hold that, and I can go there. But cardboard boxes hold a world of meaning — a global anatomy of commerce, consumption, disposal, and reuse.
I point this out not as a brag but to underscore how badly we need more local journalism —> donorbox.org/nycdonate
