Yeah, the move that interests me would include STEM. I think we need to restore some prestige to the idea that there is a unity of learning. I know it's a lot tougher now than it was in 1500, but an educated person should still kind of have a big picture.

in this case i also believe in the power of the human spirit (inflexible hidebound territorial hyperfixation of wikipedia editors) to triumph over the machine (dark internet of unlimited procedurally generated nonsense links). but I'm a romantic.

wikipedia is incredibly transparent about citations so the worst case is probably a 'check citations more', not 'give up on wikipedia'. the entire site is already written so 'LLM SEO pages' are not going to matter for most things you'd look up

can't think of any domain where free + worse completely destroyed paid + better. 'pay more for more quality' usually a stable niche

Yep. People who want to convince themselves that a tool is useless become kind of *creatively* literal-minded in the ways they envision it being used. “If tool sometimes wrong, not possible me use tool.”
