Annual NAS Oceana Air Show Peace Rally ☮️ Sat. Sept 21 - Sun. Sept 22. 8am - 5pm each day. (Come for however long you can) (0800 - Gate opens; 1000 - show begins; 1500 - Blue Angel Show) We will be gathered on the public sidewalk, off base, near the trafficked entry area. (Oceana Blvd, going south, before you turn onto Tomcat Blvd - gov property) Contact vfp757@gmail.com or message us on FB or Instagram for parking information. The NAS Oceana Air Show is the ✨single largest annual military recruiting event in Hampton Roads✨, with events and activities designed to appeal to families and children within an entertainment venue to capture their attention for long-term “buy-in.” Huge resources are poured into this, in addition to continuous recruitment in schools at all levels as accepted practice. This is a counter recruitment rally Our VFP Climate Mission: The Climate Crisis and Militarism Project of Veterans For Peace is part of the world-wide movement to mitigate the climate crisis and promote peace and justice (climate, racial and economic factors). As educators and activists, we focus on US militarism’s ongoing damage to the climate: * Its vast and largely unreported greenhouse gas emissions * Its role as military protection for oil corporations * Its squandering of trillions needed for addressing climate and people’s needs (ie; health care, fresh water, public education, housing, safe/reliable infrastructure). * Its promotion of war – a human, climate and environ
