There are two overlapping reasons editors write these chickenshit headlines downplaying the violent tendencies of Trump supporters. They support Trump, and/or they don't want to get violent threats themselves.
This is a truly bizarre way for journalists to describe terrorism aimed at a Senator’s family. “He has also cited concerns for the safety of his family as one reason for his reluctance to endorse her” ma’ams, that is terrorism.
