*heavy caveat here that Iām Canadian & this is just how SAR operated here during larger weather disasters, & I am in zero way an expert. This also seems unprecedented and horrific in scale, so I wonāt presume to know what US disaster relief workers prefer. All of this is deeply scary and tragic š
This one part is a bit true, as much as Iām NOT a fan of police. A good friend of mine volunteered for wilderness Search & Rescue for 25 years, & if someone is āsafeā during a disaster they donāt want* people going back into the danger zone b/c theyāre trying to get to others that still need help š
