Suggesting that autism is something that should be cured isn't an inherently bad thing, at least to me. It's like suggesting that we should try and help paraplegics walk again, in that my life would be a lot better if I wasn't autistic.

As I said before though, it is important to realize that Autism Speaks does not give good advice to parents when it comes to helping thei autistic child. Most of their advice is counter intuitive, and ends up hurting autistic children more than they help.
