Dungeons. As with dragons, barring sentience and a friendly demeanor, death is assured. At least in a dungeon, whether a traditional oubliette or a fantasy version, I’ll live a while, make friends with some rats or fellow inmates. I might even escape. Dragons clearly know that I’m very crunchable.
By no means any excuse for the actions of the hateful, bigoted, or violent extremists. More to note they are not mustache twirling villains. Beyond the slapdash vileness of things like Project 25. They are neglected, scared children who will mob and destroy whatever scares them.
