I just wondered if 15% of the cropland currently used for growing biofuel in Europe is replaced with solar, these countries could potentially reduce nitrogen levels in soil and groundwater caused by overfertilization to normal levels. Also reduce fertiliser productions and dependency on seasons.

Is there a simple way to calculate how much nitrogen in the soil would be reduced by using solar energy instead of biomass as a fuel?

Cool map. I've seen these for US/UK but not Germany. Keep in mind that the solar PV hectares are probably producing *40-100x* the useable energy per hectare vs. the "energy plants" (e.g., corn, canola) bioenergy feedstock hectares. Important context when people complain about solar land use. 🔌💡

I made a little graphic that shows that the total area used by solar parks and wind power in Germany is significantly less than that of golf courses (approx. 50,000ha), for example. Some of the figures are from different years, but the proportions are pretty accurate.
