I actually love when they talk tough because it amuses me to tweak them even more. On the other hand, if any of them lay a word on my wife then that'll be a problem.

but it has worked for the last 50 years. The GOP yells somethign extreme, the media picks it up as a valid option, Dems give in a little bit and slide to the right. GOP then gets more extreme, media gives it cover, Dems cave. After 50 years, the behavior is now engrained.
