The implicit argument behind every "Harris must promise centrism" column is that Trump voters get to define words like reasonable and extreme. If you ever voted for Trump, you forever surrendered the privilege of defining what's normal, I'm sorry!

Call me extreme, but I’m pissed that she’s going to offer a republican a cabinet seat. Just what we need, Joe manchin on overdrive 🙄 They’re never gonna like us, so let’s stop pandering.

Trump: “I’m gonna kill my opponents personally ; I’m gonna bash their heads against columns like a roman centurion and name my horse the leader of the senate!” Columns: “Harris is pretty left compared to the norms established by her opposition; could this be a mistake in the long run?”

Centrism is when you say you’d fuck your daughter on a talk show, apparently

When you have weak Left and media controlled by the Right, the political Centre in domestic and foreign issues will end up being between Far-Right and 'moderate' Right. Even when polls show that progressive agenda is very popular among voters.

Well...shocker. The "right" absolutely has, does, and probably will define political words and arguments for the for-see-able future because...the Dems are willing and wanting to cede that ground. And..here we are.

alternatively, some large percentage of so-called centrists are simply more comfortable with fascism than with progressivism. not because they hate others, necessarily, but because fascism promises to do the work for you while progressivism asks you to work to make the world better

Bernie is the closest we've had in my lifetime (I'm 39) to a Presidential candidate that believed their message was enough to win and compromising to the center wasn't in the cards.

The only reasonable center position is to refuse to cede any ground to trumpian positions that have no basis in reality (read: pretty much all of them)

Republicans who insist dems concede to their demands so they don’t vote for Trump. JFC!!! Either fix your own g’damned party or vote for the dems. You have a binary choice.
