A reminder, as always, that climate vulnerability is largely a function of lack of power and unequal political economy, not just exposure to 'natural hazards' www.nytimes.com/2024/10/03/c...

I don't have any clear answers but the disconnect between what scientists (esp social scientists) work and report on and what happens at the side events at UNGA, the climate and biodi COPs, etc just seems to get wider and wider every year.

At both #climateweek#summitofthefuture I can't help but notice lots of reference to 'we need science to help us' -- then exactly zero attention to what social scientists are doing. There is HUGE disconnect b/w social science research on climate/biodi financing and what is actually happening 🤷‍♀️

Ha! Yes! Have been in land-based mitigation world so hard to avoid CDR…esp with all the biodiversity/food implications….

A great nudge to get back on social media after the death of Twitter! Hoping to engage more around here moving forward 😀

Climate change is shifting hurricane patterns, and the scale of flooding is the worst in decades. We did a deep dive on Vietnam's climate vulnerability for World Bank in 2010 that still holds up well here: documents1.worldbank.org/curated/en/9...

TBH 'magic dust' does sound more catchy than enhanced mineral weathering. Might see if can get that in my next paper on CDR lol.....
