just taking a moment to recognize how cool it is that my eyes interpret this as having 3rd dimensional depth due to how they instinctively read the spatial relationships of colors contrasted against one another. color is so cool. eyes are so cool. the brain is fine too I guess

My dad died of cancer and I couldn’t disagree with this more. I mean, first of all, sometimes the point of using those words is to provoke a sense of awfulness or dread. They were conscripted into common language precisely bc their associative meaning makes them powerful communicative tools.

Unless you are writing about cancer, do not use the word “cancer.” Or tumor, malignant, or metastasize. Everybody has, has had, or knows someone who has, had, or died of cancer. Find a different metaphor to avoid sending your audience’s minds to an awful place. (4/n)
