My quick two cents before I go back to work. Politics do matter in fandoms. I saw what happened to the MLP fandom years ago with their love and friendship no politics things. It ended up becoming an alt-right playground.

The very opposite of love and friendship. Ponies wearing armbands and self-segregating was the last I saw of that fandom.
This so much. I don’t love hearing about the atrocities of the world in my fandom safe space—but left unchecked it gets bad alarmingly fast. Somehow My Little Pony nearly turned me alt-right as a teenager because “love and tolerance” turned into “don’t question my toxic ideologies”
Especially in fandoms so centered around their art community. Tell a bunch of artists not to make it political? Sounds dumb, to me.
