Statistical hypothesis testing feels like casting a magic spell: If you change your plan or peek at the data or try to test it a second time, you break the spell and your research falls under the invisible curses of p-hacking and invalid results. #statistics#research#experiments#p-hacking
I tend to see it as the Greek tragedy of Orpheus and Eurydice. He is not allowed to cast his gaze on her and when he does, he loses her forever. We are all Orpheus. We will always be. Curiosity drives us, after all. To be Orpheus is to care.
Tomorrow is German Unification day. It will be the first time since 2001 that I'll have that day off.
