Threads has a single algorithmic feed full of posts from everyone on the app and…that’s it. Unlike Twitter, Mastodon or Bluesky, it doesn’t seem possible to only view posts from people you follow. There’s just one feed full of people and brands I don’t follow. It kind of sucks.
Not only that, but the current feed is filled with people with already-huge followings jockeying for position on it along with brands doing much the same or advertising. That's great for brands and influencers but not great for the average user.
I’m sure I’ll eat these words later, but this makes me feel slightly better about the odds of Zuck actually winning the posting app wars
What's even the point? It's for people who can't figure out lists and categories.
That sounds fucking terrible.
Oh my god?
It populates with content from your friends as they start posting.
So it's literally an advertising slop conveyor belt?
Wow that’s pointless. Other apps lean heavily on their algorithmic feeds, but they usually at least offer a following tab.
If you start blocking it gets better but yeah it sucks
It’s worse than that—you can’t even see which accounts you follow (!)
