It’s digital “releases” that have muted any admiration ppl have for musicians. It’s the same when a writer says they have self-published in pdf format. There needs to be an entity. Even going to the effort of releasing a cassette with hand crafted inlay card will nullify the disdain you identify.

I like the depiction of the sky in that one, and the buildings reflected in the water....

Windy & Carl - Consciousness. Kranky Recs. have just reissued their 2001 masterpiece, still sounding every bit as magical as first time round. Sublime cosmic ambience with pulsating hypnotic rhythms and Windy Weber's haunting voice occasionally piercing the clouds with flashes of sunlit brilliance.

Do you like the feedback at the beginning of Sonic Youth's dancefloor hit "Ghost Bitch"? Of course, we all do. Well here's an album (and frankly, a band) that does nothing but that. Enjoy with a snifter of methylated spirits in the squat of your choice. mirrorworldmusic.bandcamp.com/album/live-a...

Butterfly numbers definitely are not dwindling in my walled garden. The brassicas were netted against birds, but the cabbage whites devastated the entire crop during the late summer. Sadly I'll have to resort to even finer mesh netting next year (needless to say we're fully organic otherwise)

I remember seeing that film on tv when it was first broadcast. Man were my favourite band back then and I managed to grab a cassette recorder and record the audio. I knew it word for word for a long while! I searched for years and was so pleased when it was finally rediscovered a couple of years ago

New-found respect today for those French salesmen who would bring their cycles, striped shirts & berets across to S. England with strings of onions slung insouciantly around their necks. It was all I could do to lift them up onto their hooks in the orchard drying room today. Such a weight!

Emily, thank you so much for taking the time to explain that - it makes complete sense and I really do appreciate it. Quite touched that such an acknowledged expert in her field should take the trouble to respond. Thanks!
