Retired early with absolutely no regrets - but a good few years left in me - the LA was told where to put their offer of work 😂

Complete lack of compassion. I always tried to manage staff and give time to do whatever they needed to get back to themselves. Fast forward to abysmal management of me post cancer treatment, (not allowed back/ no phased return) request for help when burnout hit, ignored - more monitoring though!!

Much more of a focus on mental maths and the language of maths would imho be good - and teaching and learning maths - not being slaves to THE method - if I get asked if this is a bar problem too many times more… And what is this pleasure thing? Enjoyment ??? Bonkers thought 😜

As head - when I covered - maths, music, RE and science. As class teacher add PE and DT/Art (which I would spend most of chatting to groups of children - happy days!)

I’ve only done this since retirement - before then best intentions always went swiftly in the bin - but my top tip for sticking to it is - I now plan meals/weekly shop (actually stick to this too!) Game changer!! 😂

First post! Retired (early!)from teaching (30 years- 20+ as head) last year. Rather a rough end - cancer shenanigans delayed burnout - not helped by employer - but now much better & living a rather cliched life - great! But am sensing a general ‘flump’ creep in. Retirees - what came next for you?
