Yes, especially since not all people can fill all jobs. There might be plenty of nursing jobs available, but I have to eat every 4 hours and can't function after a mere 10 hour day. With breaks
And if our nations' central banks are determined to make sure that some of us have a Duty To Be/Remain Unemployed (regardless of skill, experience, training, willingness to work, etc.)...well, then.
So back in like, 2008?, I was looking for a job. And I was chatting with someone who was doing some hiring and they told me "we used to get maybe 20-30 applications for a position, now we get 300." As far as I can tell, this has only gotten worse since then.
There isn't. I can attest to this. I've got Program management experience, and NO ONE WILL HIRE ME. At all. 5 months. over 150 applications. The only people that have even ATTEMPTED to get back to me are car sales. Fuck, ONE JOB fired me the first fucking day because I wasn't "outgoing enough."
The thing that gets me is, we all know how hard it is to get the things we need lately. Can't get a human on the phone, and as of recently I can't even get a human at the Taco Bell drive up window. Everything is made badly far far away. Each of those things is a job someone doesn't have...
"There aren't jobs for them" --> this is so spot-on. I've been without a full-time job for a year now. I have an MA and substantive experience in teaching, plus experience as a copywriter. I have a very diverse skill-set. The best I can do is 3 part-time jobs. 🫠
Whyyyyy do so many MANY of these kinds of arguments boil down to "nuh-uh!"
