Opening a talk this evening, I had to once again open with how much unprocessed grief we're all holding. And how truly dangerous this is for us as individuals and collectively as a polity. Unprocessed grief leaves us susceptible to manipulation & to much more.
This is how fascism grows. You take people who are hurting, and you hurt them more and more while telling them everyday that it's "those people's" fault. Then, when they're truly broken, you offer yourself as their salvation/vengeance.
Yes! Exactly.
Unprocessed grief can have you retreating or exploding. Both can be a real problem in a world where fascism is fully resurgent. This is trouble and there's hardly any public discussion of scale about what's happening.
This is one of the reasons why I've turned MSNBC off. I don't watch CNN at all.
