I stand by what I've said for years which is that people aren't being "duped" by the Right. They want and like what's on offer from the Right. Not understanding this is a real problem and leads to ridiculous "solutions."
Exactly. They *are* being duped with false claims and false evidence, but it's to believe things they already want to believe. That's why you can't dissuade them when you say, "No, that is a video of carnival in Brazil, not a migrant caravan."
It boils down to racism and sexism.
I've been saying it a long time too. They're happy to just make up whatever BS they need to on the fly, they don't care about the truth fundamentally - just power and sadism. They know they're spitting lies in everyone else's face, they don't respect our right to even live.
Charlatans thrive when people want to believe the lies they're told. That's the situation right-wing grifters and leaders find themselves in. A lot of white people want to hear that their worst impulses and biases are correct, and they are ready to embrace all "evidence."
"If only others would understand that if they lived exactly the way we want them to, there would be no problems for me in the world anywhere. I vote to elect people who will make it illegal to not let us tell them how they will live." The GOP is the HOA of America.
Entirely true for western Europe as well.
Totally. Especially at this point that not only is he running but has already had a four year term.
"Why do people vote against their own best interests" They don't!
Reminds me of when people tried to educate McDonalds customers about how unhealthy the food was. Didn't make a difference. People didn't care. People weren't eating it to be healthy in the first place. Making documentaries about how nasty it is does nothing.
