I don’t think people realize just how batshit the US is right now. If this were happening elsewhere, you would call this a failed or failing state, where random courts and provincial governments can defy the central state at will, throwing into doubt the existence of a unified state.
Pretty sure that’s the goal. For all their talk about the Constitution, these people are all Anti-Federalists who want the Articles of Confederation (or at least the Confederacy) back.
Yeah this is batshit even for South Asia. US politics is driven by a very loud minority of fundie Christians, who only make up < 20% of the Christian demographic (per latest PRRI survey).
Although I also want to stress that minority rule is 100% a legal part baked into the US Constitution. The country had just kinda drifted away from it post Civil Rights.
