A common tactic of the far right is to find communities experiencing demographic shifts, and exploit them for propaganda purposes by holding rallies that drive up bigotry and violence. Trump holding a rally in Springfield is just taking the white nationalist playbook and making it party politics.

I wrote something for MSNBC about racist lies that immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were eating other residents’ pets and the resulting bomb threats that closed schools in the city two days in a row. My latest for MSNBC: www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

Opinion | The Springfield bomb threats are a natural byproduct of MAGA’s moral panic playbook

Republicans have dissolved whatever lines existed between the conservative movement’s intellectual thought-leaders and seedy digital mudslingers.

I’m unfamiliar with the history of the nazi usage of late stage capitalism; unlike the Z acronym , it doesn’t have an explicitly fascist, anti-Semitic meaning in the term itself. There’s nothing inherently nazi in saying late stage capitalism the way there is in using the Z acronym.

If you use the term ZOG, then you are not a leftist. This is an explicitly neo-Nazi acronym. On the rare occasion that someone who was on the left used this term in antifascist circles, they were immediately confronted. If they tried to defend its use, they were effectively defending fascism.

Shout out to every mainstream right-winger, including most recently Elon Musk, who's treated Tommy Robinson as a reasonable political figure who’s been “oppressed” for his political views, rather than a coward who's trying to incite a race war from abroad.

I hate this notion that we’re supposed to prove something about ourselves by being deeply concerned about the well-being of people who want us dead or in cages. That’s not how my decency is packaged.
