While on research leave for the next two years, I hope to revive www.publiclawforeveryone.com, which I have somewhat neglected recently, while busy with other things. Would be interested in views of those who have tried Substack: is it a better platform than a traditional blog?

I find substack good for blogs and podcasts, and there's a wide range of people on it. Very simple to use.

I'll add that to my feed reader (and blogroll)

I look forward to reading via whatever platform you choose. I would say that there’s quite a lot of unhappiness with the owner of Substack’s toleration of racist right wingers using that tool. An alternative platform is ghost.org

Beautiful, modern publishing with email newsletters and paid subscriptions built-in. Used by Platformer, 404Media, Lever News, Tangle, The Browser, and thousands more.

Do you want the opinions of readers or just writers?

I realise this isn't an answer to your question, but ICOI a couple of years ago I asked readers of my blog if they thought I should migrate it to Substack & of the approx 400 responses, about 50% said they didn't mind either way and about 40% said stay on the existing platform (which is what I did).

As a general point of view, I prefer non-Substack blogs - as long as they have a working RSS feed.
