Post May 2020, the failure shifted to govt ignoring SAGE advice and refusing to learn from emerging research and experience from other countries, and refusing to learn the lesson of acting early and importance of clear communication, trust & support (SpiB emphasised often!) 3/4

the advice was wrong and massively hindered by lack of public health expertise on SAGE, Govt had British exceptionalism in not learning from other countries, and a weird fatalism that we couldn't possibly develop a testing and tracing system in time 2/4

What's upsetting as well is it's the same nonsense used by minimisers everywhere, including evidence based f***wits 🤪, ie dry tinder, average life expectancy at 83, underlying conditions, blah blah smegging blah... I remember when they inexplicably ended shielding in Aug20...job done, obvs...🤬🙄💔
