Maybe, ideally. But we're a very long way from this being remotely standard in my discipline at least. Maybe in 10-20 years. When that happens, I will happily concede that we are past needing the journal article.
Fair enough - and I'm totally with you that the methods section you shared was wildly inappropriate.
