oooo, v interested in other replies as I work on asexuality and Thecla. I feel like some of Virginia Burrus's work on asceticism would at least be helpful. Also, not sure if she ever published, but Linzi Guy had a queer sbl paper on Thecla that I suspect would have done some thinking around this.
