My friend and RiffTrax colleague Sean has posted this link to get help to Appalachia, where he grew up, and which was hit very hard by Helene.
It’s normal in my small mountain town (escaped Helene’s wrath fortunately) for folks to be hanging out in the library parking lot at all hours using WiFi. Cell/internet service is spotty all the time in the Appalachian mountains.
There must be something wrong with me because i background/source check almost everything before sharing. Or maybe it’s because I’m a librarian.
And they sat all weekend! Seriously, I’d have students do the unboxing (and counting, checking packing slips, stamping, etc.) - let them get a little excited.
Everyone: Let's all promote trans stories following [redacted]! Me: y'all should read this book I loved!!! Also me: *remembers like 8 hours later that I'm a trans author trying to crowdfund a book with a genderqueer character and could actually really use the boost right now*
If a story about a queer "ally" realizing he's bi after he falls in love with a drag queen, all about finding community & discovering yourself in your early 20s, sounds like a book you'd like to read (or one you'd like to exist), please consider boosting this/pledging? We're about halfway there 🙏🏼

I don't feel like the national media is conveying right now what a catastrophe is unfolding in western North Carolina.
There is a lovely dog park in Edmond OK if you’re ever there. Acres of natural space, trees, open field, and an actual lake. There are a few benches for tired humans. My girl played so hard she couldn’t jump in the car when we left!
