Been lowkey buzzing since finding out last week that I'm being laid off. We knew it was coming but thought the next cut would be closer to the end of the year. The plan was to start freelancing since it's going to take a bit for the AI bubble to burst. So here we are.

Ed Zitron notes here that many Microsoft employees are freaking about the $billions going into AI, "a dead-end technology that runs on copyright theft [requiring] a continual supply of capital .. as it provides services that are, at best, inessential." www.wheresyoured.at/subprimeai/?...

The timeline is very doom, it seems, so here's this year's August painting. Further notes at Cara: cara.app/post/ff1f723...

A painting from the perspective of looking straight down a driveway to the street. Lush green trees and bushes line the pavement. At the foot of the driveway is a lamp post. There is another house and yard across the street. It's sunny, but the trees provide a lot of shade.

No. We're not fucked. There's no giving up, because if we do THEN we're fucked. Don't just give the fuckers the win, now or ever. Fight for yourself, fight for the people you care about, fight for the people who will be even more fucked than you will be. Be pissed that you have to fight. But fight.

i love it when people post imperfect wips. the more imperfect the better. i cannot tell you how many times i have given up on stuff because it looked ugly at a stage it was MEANT to look ugly. it WASN'T FINISHED. and it serves as a great reminder that it's normal and just part of how art is made

Okay so to be clear we are destroying power grids, the livelihoods of actual humans beings, and communication/research infrastructure for the sake of an algorithm that converts stolen data into unreliable stolen data and consistently loses millions of dollars. Just to be clear
