it would be so easy for the US to stop sending these weapons and no amount of complaining that the US is obliged to send them because of Congress can overcome the existing legal obligations to stop arming a country killing civilians and denying them aid. The president has to want to stop arming tho.

Joe Biden is a lame duck and will never run for political office again. In this sense he is more free now than at any time in his career to do what he feels is right without weighing those actions against potential consequences This is what he wants to do. He likes it when this happens

Periodic reminder that: 1: the "crowded theater" quote comes from a SCOTUS case that said it's OK to jail socialists for encouraging people to resist the draft, and maybe you should think about whose speech the state will actually punish down if that standard becomes law again. Hint: it you.

When you learn that Walz retired in 2005 but his unit deployed in the theater in 2007 (the surge) the story gets stranger... like what we are we doing here

Iā€™m speaking from experience here: the DC pundit class still thinks Gaza is a nagging political pet issue by a small section of the meddling TikTok youths and not a humanitarian disaster that could decide the election. No doubt some of those people are still near Harris and ignoring them is pivotal.

Really only Harris/Walz blunder this week was putting out the old video of Walz saying he carried "weapons in war." Rs getting over their skis with the "stolen valor" accusation - he has never claimed to be in combat, faked a medal, etc - but that was a bush league error.
