Back in 2016, Trump was seen as an entertaining clown. He was stupid and awful but for many, he was a riot and fun to watch. And that was the problem. People deluded themselves into thinking the clown might actually be a "good leader" with "hidden depths". This time, we learned.

I disagree with that narrative. People who voted for him would never have voted Democrat no matter how bad the Republican candidate was. They didn't learn anything. He won because of 1) voter suppression and B) people who didn't bother voting because they thought he could never win.

Trump gains power and support if he's seen as entertaining or a powerful threat. People gravitate to powerful-looking folks. The only antidote is a comedian heckler. Don't call him stupid. Call him old, predictable, and boring. A weak man who would cave and easily baited. Is that what people want?
