As a non-Knicks NBA person: this trade is just pure win for the Knicks. Losing DDV hurts on an emotional level, but he's a depth piece. You lose those in big trades, it's unavoidable. KAT is a better player at a position of higher need and an easier fit than Randle for this Knicks roster.

Giving up only a protected 1st in the deal is also good business for NY. Knicks had no C capable of 20+ min for at least half the season. Now they have one, and can afford to bring Robinson along gradually to ready him for the playoffs.
