I think, perhaps, it would be better if sometimes we did have that little sign or, at least, limited it to once a day rather than needing something important enough to be on the front page of the newspaper every five minutes
I am old enough to remember my parents reading a morning and evening paper. One paper was local, one paper was from the big city. Looking forward to being well enough to return to twice a day.
There is precedent. On April 18, 1930, the BBC's news announcer announced, "There is no news." The Beeb broadcast piano music for the rest of the 15-minute news segment. A lot of today's "news" talking heads could be replaced by piano music. "Chopsticks" on repeat would be better than some.
“Y’all can chill today. Everything’s normal. Turn off the cortisol faucet. Go for a walk. Pet the cat.”
One of my favorite facts I got from QI; on April 18, 1930, the BBC declared that there was no news and instead played fifteen minutes of piano music. www.bbc.com/news/enterta...
On this day in 1930, the BBC played piano music because there was no news.
For a while there, that was the point of human interest stories. "We're out of news, here's a cat that waterskis. After the break, teacher retires after 65 years." I blame the Sinclair Group for the loss of that.
But that might affect Q4 profits.
