the reason right wing pressure campaigns are so effective is that they are run by terrible people with no morals who will never, ever, stop the level of harassment and threats people have to deal with is not something anyone can handle - eventually you give in so they’ll leave you alone

They are always saying that they represent some other group (parents, fans, journalism) and, more often than not, aren't even part of the group. They just want something to yell and scream about.

Being a person who angered the alt-right and had a hit piece published on Fox News, I can tell you that if you’re able to just sit in the middle of a hate tornado they eventually burn themselves out, but it’s no fun.

The reason the Right is successful is because we persist. You cannot stop us.

I also think that's why you get some of the press distortion because left wing people don't spend years doing threat campaign at the same rate.

And they are completely unconstrained by any form of reality.

I’m an academic who had some personal info posted on a screenshot on Twitter, including a photo of me, from some angry RW dude who I didn’t even know, and after that I stopped posting photos of any kind from anywhere

there are other factors too, of course, and many of the tech leaders have gotten significantly more reactionary (none moreso than Elon) but a huge part of it is that people didn’t want to be yelled at anymore
