Hmmm. If she was definitely directed to St Pancras by LNER staff, she should be entitled to a full refund for the 1hr+ delay - but then she shouldn’t have needed to buy a new ticket either. Think she’d be best off pursuing the refund of the original ticket tbh.

I'm assuming this is an Advance ticket? You are automatically allowed to travel on the next train. If you speak to staff at their discretion they can allow you to go via another route that normally wouldn't be allowed on the ticket without the need to buy a new one.
