Everyone stretches their jobā€™s connection with their degree :). But, reading between the lines, the consensus is he was in violation of his visa but nobody can prove it/they donā€™t want to get sued. Iā€™m just pissed this dillhole got citizenship and not all those parents dealing with the 10 year bar

Oh he was totally ā€œillegalā€. OPT only happens if you graduate; CPT requires you being in school which we know he dropped out of and didnā€™t leave the US in 10 days. Thereā€™s no way he could have been in status.

I know itā€™s not the point, but dude Katrina memories. I remember 2 pieces of mail I got after. 1) a jury summons for the 5th circuit the day it reopened and 2) a plastic bag of minimally damaged mail that was immediately thrown out. These both made it to my suburban house in December.

So Iā€™m tired of holding my arms up to defuse my curly hair, so Iā€™m going back to the drying hood. Between this and the silk bonnets, Iā€™m just a weekly appointment from being my grandmother.

It did take us ages to get service on cell phones after Katrina even outside of the area- my cell sucked even in Illinois. Iā€™m sure itā€™s even worse now that everything is VOIP. Best ways to get through was SMS.

If you don't have insurance you may also qualify for federal relief. After Hurricane Isaac I went to a temporary FEMA center in New Orleans and signed up for food assistance that was a few hundred dollars to replace the food I lost and got some assistance for lost wages.

I am NOT a fan of charity navigator BUT they do have a list of nonprofits working to support communities impacted by Helene. I would love to hear about smaller, local nonprofits as well working to support families and communities affected. www.charitynavigator.org/discover-cha...

Living through a flood causes lasting trauma. We're seeing a mass disabling event in North Carolina and elsewhere right now. Climate resilience requires changes to built infrastructure, energy systems, food systems, *and* healthcare.

As I shared with UnivisionNoticias24/7, many polls show Harris ahead of Trump in the popular vote. These polls undercount her support among hard-to-reach populations. They also under-sample immigrants, Asians, and Latinos in states such as Arizona and Nevada. Most polls are only conducted in English
