The best example of this is remote work. Nothing a company can do would increase employee morale as much as reducing or eliminating employees' commute. Nevertheless, companies are forcing people back to the office even though this is more expensive and makes workers less productive

I used to think opposition to remote work was driven by The Olds. But I currently work for a millennial CEO who is rabidly anti-remote work. I've come to realize management opposes universal remote work because they believe remote work should be a privilege reserved for the elite
