Hi, I need to dig this out but gerrymandering can create areas that while they have a majority for X party can effectively reduce the margin. This is why the current approach is to concede to the Ds in one or two areas to the geographically concentrated Ds. But a big surge could beat even this.

For two Decades the Republican party has been winning by constantly attacking. Now it is being mocked, it no longer matters what is true about the joke. It only matters that it is within the "humour Overton window". And they cannot cope. The More they are laughed at the more they lose.
